Who runs it
Japan Prep Kit is run by a foreign resident living in Japan who has been through earthquakes and typhoon seasons firsthand and wanted to make preparation simpler for the international community.
Why it exists
Reliable disaster guidance in Japan is rarely available in clear, plain English, even though it can be life-saving. This site translates official preparedness advice into straightforward, actionable steps for people who do not read Japanese fluently.
Data sources
Our guidance is based on trusted official sources:
- Cabinet Office Japan (内閣府防災) — national disaster management guidance.
- Tokyo Metropolitan Government "東京防災" handbook — the widely distributed disaster-preparedness guide.
- Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) — official earthquake, tsunami, and typhoon information.
